How long will it take for my debt to be paid off?

Repayment periods vary between 24 and 84 months. We strive to have all accounts (except vehicles and home loans) settled within 60 months.

Will the bank take my house and/or vehicle(s)?

Debt counselling protects your assets against repossessions. However if legal action has proceeded before the debt counselling application then we cannot guarantee protection.

Will I have to appear in court?

No. The court proceedings will be attended to by our debt counsellor. We also attempt to mostly make use of the National Consumer Tribunal instead of a court due to lower costs for you.

Will I be able to use my credit cards while under debt counselling?

No. You will not have access to credit. You will however have enough cash available to cover all of your necessary monthly expenses and therefore have no need to use your credit cards.

How will you be able to reduce my payments and interest rates?

The National Credit Act provides for Debt Counsellors to be able to have accounts restructured in terms of a consumer's affordability. The industry has also made agreements with regards to interest rate concessions.

Will my employer know that I am under debt counselling?

We will not inform your employer without you requesting us to inform them.

How will I afford debt counselling fees?

Our fees are included in your monthly affordable instalment. Our fees are also vary based on each consumer's situation. Our fees are inline if not below the NCR's Debt Counselling Fee Guidelines.

How do I know that I require debt counselling?

If you are experiencing difficutly keeping up with your payments or you are in arrears then you will most likely require debt counselling. Let us do an assessment for you to see if we can assist.

Can I apply for debt counselling over the internet/e-mail?

Yes. You can apply online or over e-mail. Contact us if you require any assistance and we will gladly assist you to apply.

Will I ever again be able to make debt?

You will only be blocked from making debt until a clearance certificate has been issued. A clearance certificate will be issued once your debt counselling accounts are paid up (except home loan which must be up to date). Within 21 days all reference of you ever being under debt counselling must be removed and you will be able to access credit as per normal.

Will the process be confidential?

We will not share your information with any party not being relevant to the debt counselling application. We will not inform your friends or family of the application.
